Rowe Woods - Cincinnati Nature Center,  Clermont County, Ohio

Here you will find before and after pictures since the changes to the old Cincinnati Nature Center listed below. There is a new one and plan as to how the CNC Rowe Woods direction is headed. So I have collected a lot of the old pictures of places before the commercialization. Good ideas, just poorly placed,

Old CNC mission statement  "Provide the Greater Cincinnati community, especially young people, the opportunity to experience, study and enjoy the natural world. Encourage understanding, appreciation, and responsible stewardship of the environment through education. Preserve the heritage and integrity of Cincinnati Nature Center natural and agricultural lands."

It was scraped and a new mission in place. The idea of allowing the land to return to it's natural state has changed to a new commercial Disneyesque type of nature place. A new simulated nature playscape playground has replaced once pristine fields and woodlands. Colorful signs now block once beautiful views of the Lotus Pond and along many things along the hiking trails. The CNC has gone commercial, and it is no longer a nature haven for the purists. From what I hear from old faces many do not like the new direction.

Rowe Woods and the Cincinnati Nature Center was founded In 1965, a handful of dedicated and visionary naturalists
Including founders Stanley M. Rowe Sr., Karl H. Maslowski, Kay Benedict, Helen Black and Katherine T. Nyce, and others created an organization where people could experience, study and enjoy the natural world. Cincinnati Nature Center's original site, Rowe Woods in Union Township, Ohio, was the physical location for this new organization.
